“Why Panama?” I get this question every day, especially in a world where the word “expat” is still often associated with countries like the UAE, Portugal, Singapore, and others. It was not an easy decision, and it was not one my wife and I took lightly. 313: El Salvador: Is This Emerging Latin American Country Worth The Hype?

It seems like every day, a Private Client or subscriber to our newsletter asks me about El Salvador. I can’t say I necessarily blame them; with everything Bukele has done, from turning around the violent crime situation to legalizing Bitcoin, there are plenty of reasons for expats to take an interest in the direction of this emerging Latin American country.

But having not been to El Salvador myself for twenty-some-odd years, I decided to take a long weekend trip down there to meet up with a few business contacts and check out how things had progressed since I had last hitchhiked through it as a much younger man. This episode is my full report from the trip and my thoughts on El Salvador’s potential for expats.

But I think you’ll find in this episode that I let loose a bit more than normal as I joined my friend Adam Carswell on his live show “Ancap Radio” on Twitter (or X, which I’ll never get used to saying…). I’m not sure what was in the air—perhaps it was the show’s “live radio” format of the show—but I was in a certain kind of mood and really just let loose.

293: What’s It Like To Work With Expat Money?

What’s it really like to work with me? That’s exactly what my colleague Marc Clair asked several of my clients and partners last month during my 41st birthday bash in Panama.

This came at the tail end of our Panama Expat Exploration & Investment Tour, where I spent the week helping clients craft their own Plan B, whether it be residencies, citizenships, or simply investing internationally and protecting their wealth.

People often ask why I have spent so much time and resources building this company when I could easily retire on the beach somewhere and spend the rest of my days staring off into the sunset.
