273: Paraguay Tour Breakdown
Paraguay is a new country for me and is the latest stop on my quest to try to tick off all of the countries in Central and South America. I saw all of Central America over 20 years ago, but there are still some South American countries that are on my bucket list.
Today, you’ll not only learn about my time in Paraguay and my overall perspective on the country but also get a sense of the kind of things I look for when I am touring a new country for the first time, always with my listeners and clients in mind.
TODAY’S EPISODE ABOUT PARAGUAY
- Learn about my “hub and spoke” model for touring a country for the first time.
- Hear about a little mishap with our room upon arriving in Villa Rica and how I turned that into an excuse to have an incredible meal.
- Listen to me describe our tour of a timber plantation, which included seeing a Guinness World Record-holding marvel!
- I describe my visit to an exclusive German-speaking community (you read that right) in the middle of Paraguay!
- Hear another of my tales of travel mishaps – this one involving my attempts to pay a Paraguayan cabbie.
- Learn how Paraguay has leveraged its hydroelectric power, not just to provide electricity for its own people but also by selling power to neighbouring Brazil. Brilliant!
- I explain how the cheap electricity available in Paraguay has led to a boom in Bitcoin mining in the country – a unique potential area of investment to keep an eye on.
- Listen to me break down several of the exciting real estate investment opportunities I got to check out there. While I can’t advise anyone to act just yet, there are definitely some projects to keep an eye on.

CONCLUSION
That wraps up my recap of my first time in Paraguay. As you can see, when I visit a country like this, I am there as much more than simply a tourist. Rather, I see myself as the first boots on the ground for any of my listeners or clients who might have an interest in pursuing residency or investments in that particular country.
I really enjoyed the country and saw a lot of potential investment opportunities there. Be sure to bookmark our website, ExpatMoney.com and sign up for our newsletter to get a ton of content about Paraguay in the coming months.
